Surface Rights

Our office has an extensive surface rights practice dating back to 1978.

We act for many oil and gas companies in the acquisition of surface rights, whether it be by way of negotiations or under the procedures available under The Surface Rights Acquisition and Compensation Act, The Pipelines Act, 1998, or The Expropriation Procedure Act.

We provide advice and representation to operators on all surface rights issues, including:

• Acquisitions,
• Applications,
• Compensation issues,
• Abandonment and restoration,
• Tortious conduct, and
• Appeals to the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal.
